Seeni Sambal (Caramalised Onion Relish)
Seeni Sambal (Caramalised Onion Relish)
Seeni Sambal (meaning sugar sambal) is a slow-cooked blend of caramelised onions, chilli, and spices. The direct translation means Sugar sambal. Although it has the word sugar in its name, this sambol packs heat.
"Seeni Sambal should taste like the controlled tension between sweet, spicy, and umami flavours on your palate."
Delight's Seeni Sambal is made in the traditional way where the onions are cooked low and slow until they turn jammy, dark and release its natural sweetness. Then we add a little sugar, tamarind, chilli, Maldive Fish, and a secret mix of spices to create a rich, punchy, addictive flavour.
Spoon it over rice, pair it with curries, layer it into sandwiches, or eat it straight from the jar.
Ingredients: Onion, vegetable oil, sugar, maldive fish, tamarind, chilli flakes, salt, ginger, cinnamon, curry leaves, cardamom, cloves
